African Christmas in July

My project using Christmas giraffes from Digistamp4joy
 The close-up on the glitter

Sketch from Cute Card Thursday #225

Good Day
After a week in the mountains, where we had some lovely weather to wander a round, we are back just before the snow started to fall. Currently we only have the wind, but I can feel that this cold front is approaching us and it is a massive one from all the news in the southern parts of my country, where the roads a closed because of the snow fall. Unlike the other parts of the world, snow in our country is a rarity and people do not know how to react to it and we are not as equipped as other countries.

I used the time this morning to catch up on a few crafting projects. I was really excited when I saw the first challenge for Christmas in July. It really bugged me to find a nice summery theme for Christmas. Though we share the same reason for Christmas, we do not share the same atmosphere for Christmas than the Northern hemisphere. For Christmas for us is summer holidays and watermelon time and I wanted to break away from the traditional red, green and gold and snowflake idea.
When I found this digi from Digistamp4joy, I was super excited. This is probably the closest I'll get to send my friends some season greetings from here - really South African style and not just like the rest of the world. I've used the black and white theme from Digistamp4joy as departure, but I have to admit that I only decided on the other colour this morning - a bit of bling. The black and white paper is from DCWV - all dressed up stack and the tag paper is from the Christmas Papercraft Collection from the Craft magazine two years ago. Tags done with Cuttlebug templates and the rest with Spellbinders. All accessories is from my stash. The sentiment is computer generated and I went over it, with a gold gelpen. I've used a white gelpen on the black bow tie too, though it shows grey.

Very cute- what a fun take on a Christmas card! I can only imagine how frustrating the traditional snowflake-based images must be when your Christmas is a summer holiday! Thanks for playing along with us at Get Hippity with Ippity!

This is gorgeous Olga, what a unique and fun interpretation of Christmas card, I absolutely love it! I can imagine it's very strange for all those countries who are in their summer in December to be sending snowy, 'cold' cards, you've done a great job on this - well done!

Thanks for joining us at Forever Friends Fortnightly Challenge Blog :)
