Welkom - Bienvenue

The black rhinoceros stamp from Ollyfant Storybook stamps.

A nearby view of the stamp done on handmade paper made from animal dung, coloured with promarkers.

A near peek on the embellishments.

My card.

Good Morning

With a bit of excitement I want to share this card with you. My first african card in quite a while, but when I saw the challenge of your favourite zoo animal I just had to join in the fun.

South Africa does not have that much zoos, but we have lots of game reserves. We also host 93% of the white rhino population of the world. Currently we also have a war on poachers that hunt the rhinos for their horns for the Eastern markets. They make sex stimulants out of the horns, but the latest reason they give: it is used for a cure for cancer, which nobody believes and it still does not give them the right of hunting Rhinos illegal. The prizes are very high for Rhino horns. It makes me very angry, because it is amazing how sick the world became in their attempt of getting rich, because there are even veterinaries involved, so it is not limited to poor uneducated people.

Back to my card. This is a black rhino, because of its sharp lip to eat leaves on trees. A first for me, stamping on handmade paper. Gives you a rock art effect. The back craft paper has different animal scene done in brown. I added the hinch of green. The borders is done with a border punch and selotape with the skin patterns, which I had for ages now. Finished it of with a dried leave, coloured guineafowl feather and porcupine pins. Sentiment is computer generated with an owl bead as final touch.

This is a card I made for our first French visitors this year. I'm a bit excited to see them again and to show them a bit of my country.

Toadily Happy Birthday

Good Morning

As I have mentioned in one of my previous post, there are some beautiful digis in round 12 of the Crafter's digital art centre progressive challenge. This one is from Fred she Said. Mom of only boys and frogs being part of my history, though I do not like the real stuff whatsoever. We stayed in France for a while (in the frogleg production area) and the French are known for eating froglegs, from there my love for frogs. I just had to use this digi. I have finally decided to use the Trio Tuesday sketch 106 and the colour combo of The Craft Pad - Red, Blue & green. All papers is from my scrapbook stash and I had this frog button for quite a while now and it is from Dress it up and it is called boyz rule. The sentiment is from Penny Black.

Pink Birthday

Good Morning

My boy's teacher is celebrating her birthday soon. So he chose this beautiful digi from Sliekje, called cupcake girl. Like many times before the card does not end up with the original colours in mind. He requested blue and the card ended up in pink. I just felt pink suites this cutie better. She seems so fragile. I've used some 3D paint on the frosting of the cupcake and added beads for decorations. The designer paper is from Kirsty Wiseman designed for the crafts beautiful magazine. The yellow is from basic grey and I used a cuttlebug emboss template for the embossing. The fluffy knitting twine and lace is from my stash. Finished it of with the flower brads and pearls in the righthand bottom corner.

Music Kitten

Good Monday Morning

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
Today's post is a card for a teenage lady. Music is more or less a neutrale theme for all teenagers, but I know she loves cats. The digi is from Sliekje and I used the Colour Create colour combo for this week. I've used a cuttlebug music emboss template for the background, did some distressing with chalk, added twine which I had to colour with ink, to fit in the colour combo, founded some music charms in my stash and finished it of with a peel-off sentiment in French saying happy birthday.
Challenges I'm joining:
Colour Create # 90 - Lilac, Blue, White and craft
One Stop Craft Challenge #170 - Create your own background

Hang in there

Hallo

This digi and sentiment is from Happileigh Scrappin, also one of round 12 digis from Crafter's Digital Art Centre. Since we stayed in France for a few years and they are known to eat froglegs I have a very soft spot for frogs. Not that I do like the real stuff, but all other forms of frogs gives me a awh feeling. This morning when I opened my blog I saw CAS-friday's new challenge for ribbons, I just had to create this card. Thought I'll stay with this hanging feeling. Cardstock is brazzille paper and ribbon is from my stash.
Challenges I'm joining:
CAS-Fridays # CFC40 - Tie one on
CDAC round 12 - cdacpc12, HSD
The Pretty Little Ribbon Shop Februarie # 7 - Anything goes
Crafter's Companion Monthly Challenge #21 - Anything goes

Have a beautiful weekend.

Dancers

Good Morning

Crafter's Digital Art Centre started their next round, and this time they have such beautiful digis available, that I just needed to play with them. Their theme is: Green, Great Gorgeous, though the green is not neccessary the main focus, but the fun. This is the first of a few that I want to share with you. This digi is from A day for Daisies, called dancers. I've used some paper piecing with a mother of pearl pink for their bodices and shoes. Soften the white with a pink distress and for a first for me, I used designer paper as the base for my card. This pink rose paper is from my scrapbook stash that I had for ages now and it just fitted the colour scheme. I also did some stitching with some metal embroidery on my sentiment. It is an Afrikaans stamp I've just as base, saying Happy Birthday! The swirl is also from mother in pearl paper and the flowers and pearls is from my stash.
I was guided by the following challenges I'm joining:
Mojo Monday #228 - Sketch
There she goes # TSG143 - Olive, Rose, Razzleberry
The ribbon real #21 - Shabby Chic Birthday - Photo inspiration with Ribbon, Lace, Stitching, Roses
Anything Goes #60 - Eye's down Bingo Board - Ribbon, Lace, Stitching, flowers, Swirls and pearls
Charisma Cardz #6 - Happy Aniversairy

Birthday Party with Alice

Top: Slided open.

Good Day

Hope your day is filled with warmth and that you love yourself the best, since you are the best in your shoes and you are special!

Today's card, is a birthday card for a young lady whom will turn 4 soon. I've used Alice in wonderland from Digi my World. For a change I've made a slide card and digged in my confetti for the embellishments and it is amazing the buttons you can find these days. This giftbox button just fitted the small table. All goodies are from my stash, just love the Use it Tuesday blog for using all your stash. They are also celebrating their 1st birthday with some big celebrations and bloghop.

Challenge I'm joining in this celebration.
