Sunflower christmas wish

My card on top.
A nearby shot on the bit of texture.

Hallo on this wet Monday afternoon.

We just had a lovely African hail-shower. My poor dog just don't love this kind of weather, so she is shivering on my lap.

I've been struggling with an idea for christmas cards this year, since I wanted to do something more typical of South Africa, since here (as my husband will explain) Father Xmas will come in his red shorts, with his red tractor and trailer full of gifts. Since Christmas is in summer and the most people share it with family and friends during their summer holidays next to the beach or swimmingpool. I'm sending a lot of cards to France and I wanted to share some of the warmth of our season with them. It is also the time when the sunflowers start to show and it is a nice scene when you are en route. So, when I saw the glitter paper in aqua, lime and yellow, it just gave me the feeling of the warmth as well as a bit of festive feeling.

Now for my card I used some aqua brazzille cardstock. The sentiment, in Afrikaans, is a chorus of a christmas song, saying:" I'm sending you a sunflower from Bethlehem, caper seeds from Hanover and some grapes from the Paarl valley". I've used my fiskar border punch for the scallops and added ribbons from my stash. For the sunflower, I used a brad with some soft magic glued to it.

I was guided by the following challenges in making this card:

Just us Girls #104 - Sketch - It is their birthday as well, so happy birthday Girls! Hope you have a splendid creative year ahead.

Colour Create #80 - Lime, Aqua, white and some texture

Daring Cardmakers - Use a foreign language

Hope you have a splendid day!
